Richard "Richie" Gile, Jr., 35, of Bettendorf, IA, died Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City. Services in celebration of his life will be held at 10 am Tuesday, December 10th at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made toward a fund to be established for his children's education.

Richie was born in 1978 in Davenport, Iowa to Richard and Sandra Gile. He married Connie Dexter on July 7, 2001 in Davenport. He had worked as a courier for U.S.M. Logistics for eight years. He drove then for Pizza Hut while attending to his studies in criminal justice at Brown Mackie College, Bettendorf. He was soon to be a Juvenile Correction Officer. He also volunteered for the Speedway Fire and Rescue, Davenport.

Survivors include his wife, Connie; sons, Chad Gile and Ryan Gile, both at home, and Joseph "Fat Kid" (Rickie) Schloemer of Bettendorf; his parents, Richard and Sandra Gile of Davenport; grandmother, Betty Dexter of Eldridge; sisters, Melinda (Chris) Truitt of Bettendorf, Tammi (Mark) Schloemer of Waterloo, IA, Sheila (Steve) Gile of Davenport, Karen (Tony) Frazier of Davenport, and Annette Gile (Richard Janus) of Bettendorf; mother-in-law, Kimberly Dexter of Davenport; sister-in-law, Susan Dexter of Bettendorf and brother-in-law, Laine Dexter. He was preceded in death by Grandpa Lucky, Grandma Rose, father-in-law Brad Dexter and uncle Butch.
