"The beauty of a life well lived will never die". My prayers go out to the entire family. Take Care!
Crystal was my daughters first teacher. She was amazing not only as a teacher but also as a person. Our sadest day besides today was when she left scales mound.

So very sorry. our thoughts and prayers are with you
The Henkes and Neuhaus families were so touched by the so many friends and former students of Crystal who traveled, some from a distance, to comfort Tom, Brock, Kara, Bob & Mary, and all of us with your loving words, and gestures at the visitation on Thursday, but also for the support, comfort and prayers during the nine months of Crystal valiantly fighting AML. We will all miss one of the lights in our lives and feel blessed to have had Crystal with us as long as we did. Jim, Patrick & Thomas join me, and all of you, in keeping Crystal's memory alive.
The obituary says it all. Crystal was all of that! I feel so lucky to have known Crystal and taught with her. I remember how fun it was to laugh with her. Now she laughs with God and all those angels. How lucky they are! Please remember, God is good and He will stand beside you and walk with you. Lean on Him in these tough times. God bless your family.

To the family of Crystal Neuhaus,
I am so sorry for your loss and my deepest sympathies go out to your family.
Mrs. Neuhaus was my kindergarten teacher in Scales Mound, and later spoke at my class's high school graduation ceremony in 1997 in Scales Mound. I can still see her smile and can still hear her reading stories to my class. I will also always remember how she sharpened my crayons for me -- even though she knew I could do it myself.
I can only imagine how many wonderful childhood memories she helped create for those many, many lives she has touched. She truly was a wonderful person. My prayers are with you during this difficult time.
I had the joy of being coached by Crystal my senior year at Scales Mound, which I believe was her first year coaching. Thinking of her fire, energy and spirit still brings a smile to my face. I was deeply saddened when I heard of her passing. She will be missed. My deepest sympathy to all of you.
Tom,
You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers!!

Crystal was the kindergarten teacher for our grandson who has special needs. As a former teacher, it was of great importance to us that our dear Ben have a sucessful kindergarten experience. Crystal was an exceptional teacher. What a blessing it was to see Ben blossom with Crystal's care and joyous teaching. Our family was so blessed to have Crystal in our lives. We are so deeply saddened by the loss of such a wonderful, classy lady and extraordinary teacher. We ask God's blessings on her family. Sincerely,

Tom and family - I was so saddened to hear the news of Crystals passing. I remember her as a great athlete in high school. But what I really remember is that she was truly one of the nicest and most genuine people in our class. I remember her always smiling and happy - she had such a bright personality. You are all in our thoughts and prayers and know that Crystal touched a lot of lives.
I am so sad for your loss! My thoughts and prayers are with you.
To All of Chrystal's loved ones:
I truly feel that the world is a better place because of Crystal. We had some good times at my slumber parties and tent parties. She was a friend to everyone. There wasn't anyone that ever had a bad thing to say about Crytal. She was hard working, dedicated, loyal, beautiful, friendly, intelligent, caring, and fun! I will always cherish the fun times we had in high school. I tried to see her twice when I was in Iowa City, but she did not want visitors at the time, which I understand and respect. I wanted her to know that I was praying for her and your family. I will continue to keep all of you in my prayers. There's no doubt that she led by example. I am honored to have been one of her friends in high school.
If there is anything I can do, please let me know.
Love and Blessings,
Dawn Schrobilgen-Abernathy-Fassbinder Class of 1978

My heart breaks for your family...
Please accept my heartfelt sympathy at the loss of your wife, mom, daughter, sister and friend to all she touched. I met Crystal when we were cheerleaders together in Junior high. She got me interested in bike riding our freshmen year in high school. We reconnected when we both lived in Iowa City, and I did her hair. She was a rare and beautiful soul. She was lit from within, and shared her positiveness with everyone she touched. I never heard her say a negative word about anyone.
Hers was a life that was cut way too short.
My heart breaks for all of you.
You will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
Tom, Brock and Kara,
I essentially grew up with Crystal having gone to kindergarten at Irving elementary with her all the way to graduatiing from Senior in '78. I will always remember Crystal as the very extrodinary female athlete of our class. I know that despite her extrodinary athletic accomplishments, they pale in comparison to her attributes as a wife and mother. We are all terribly saddened by her loss and join you in missing her dearly.
I will miss you. Love, Charlie Zimmerman
What an awesome lady Mrs. Neuhaus is and what sadness we feel to know she will no longer be here in our physical presence. I'm sure, though, that you can sense how strong she will ever be in our spiritual presence. A person so loved by many cannot escape our hearts and memories. She will be close to us all always!
I'm so sorry to hear about Crystal's passing. Know that we're thinking about you in Balltown at this difficult time.

My prayers are for your sorrow to be lessened as time heals. Please let me know if there is anything you need at anytime. God bless your family.
I knew Crystal from school. I worked at Pleasant View for 20 years. I met you, Tom in Iowa City. My husband Dean was diagnoised with AML the week Crystal had her transplant. I am so sorry to hear that Crysta'sl fight is over, but yet know she is in a beautiful place with our father. My prayers are still with you and your family at this time, and will continue to be as God heals and holds each one of you at this time. We are still in Texas as Dean is fighting his battle after his transplant at MD Anderson. Our thoughts and prayers are with you! Cheri and Dean Dahlin
Brock and Kara- Your dad was my coach and guidance counselor back in the early 1990’s in Marshalltown, and your mom regularly attended many of our games and other activities. Will always remember her smile and her support of everyone at our school. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
The minute she smiled we were in love with her. Mrs. Neuhaus had a unique and rare gift of making you feel as though you were her favorite person in the whole world. When she talked with you you had her undivided attention. It broke our hearts when we heard of her illness. Turn out the lights and go home - one of God's greatest creations has left the building. We will think of her often, she touched us deeply, we are soo sad for her family and for everyone she ever said hello too. What a tragedy. Sincerely.
Tom, I am saddened by the news of Crystal's death. My heart goes out to you an your kids.
Tom, Brock, and Kara--Coach Neuhaus was my volleyball coach back in Scales Mound many years ago. She was the true definition of "coach"--I've never met another like her. She was amazing and made everyone around her feel like the most important person in her life at that moment. It sounds like she continued to have the same impact on everyone she met over the years. My sympathies to your family, friends, schools and community. I'm so sorry for your great loss...Tammy Doser Carson
"Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather, openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy."
I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family.
I played volleyball for Crystal is Scales Mound many years ago. I had a great respect for her knowledge and love of the game. I did a little coaching myself and tried to model my coaching after her. I still talk about those HS years and the great team we had my junior year. My thoughts and prayers go out to Tom and the family.
So very sorry to hear of your loss. I saw Crystal at so many sports events that I attended when my grandkids ( the Slavens boys) played. ALways a smile and always a hello or short chat with me. Such a sweet person...my dads age when he died. Just remeber to look up and talk to her a lot..she's listening!!
I am so sorry for your loss! Truly she was a blessed soul. I used to watch her teach the kids the "Tucker Signs" for their words and thought she was a gem. I just subbed there but she was an inspiration as I see above and now know why. My deepest sympathy to you all. Rhonda Brockhouse

She was a wonderful and loving person who was kind to all. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Your beautiful memories will keep you going. May she rest in peace in the arms of angels. Jayne
You are now in the arms of your Father. I shall never forget what a beautiful, kind, spirited person you were. You have given me a lifetime of cherished memories. I still remember how we enjoyed playing volleyball together, laughing at the silliest things (like the cotton ball in your nose), and crying together as we did that one afternoon at my dining room table. Do you remember how you promised to dance at my daughter's wedding? She will be getting married this October. I will look for you in spirit. Go in peace my beautiful friend!
Love always,
Gail
Crystal was my volleyball coach in high school. She was a wonderful example of compassion for someone who was not good at the sport. She saw my strengths and focused on those. I have the most warm fond memories of practices with her. My deepest sympathy for the family. Celebrate all the wonderful memories that helped to create.
All my love,
Hallie
