Lois Louise Moldenschardt, 86, of Walcott, died Sunday, July 8, 2012 at home. Memorial services will be at 10:00 am Friday, July 13, at Weerts Funeral Home. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 Thursday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport.
She was born on April 21, 1926 in Muscatine, daughter of Art and Mae Cole. She graduated from Muscatine High School with the class of 1943. Lois was the youngest of ten children and after graduation helped with the family after her mother died.
She married Ray Moldenschardt on April 7, 1946 in Atalissa. Together, they started farming in Scott County near Plainview. Together, they traveled the world from Hong Kong, Europe, Mexico and Hawaii.
Lois was a cook at the Walcott School for many years. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors, Caldron of the Grotto and worked at many Fish Frys at the Grotto. She loved cooking and baking pies. She won many pie contests during the Walcott Day Celebration.
She enjoyed playing poker and 500, bowling, golf, fishing and spending time with friends and neighbors. You were always welcome at Lois and Ray's home.
Surviving are her three daughters, Linette (Steve) Johnston of Eldridge, Karen (Jim) Redland of Kent Washington, and Sandy (Andy) Ragona of Dubuque; four grandchildren, Brad Johnston, Stacy (Chris) Porter, Whitney Redland, and Joe (Mindy) Ragona; four great grandchildren, Wylie and Kinze Porter and Bella and Maya Ragona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ray in 2000 and siblings, Harold, Lorain, Lawrence, Carl and Merwyn Cole, Evelyn Olson, Marquerite Leese, Francis Templin, Violet Cole
Memorials may be given to Shriners Hospital and Walcott Fire Department.
The family would like to thank Sherry for helping their mother during the last few years.
