Nadine Claire Vogt, 87, of Roswell, GA, formerly of Davenport, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 in Atlanta where she and her husband have lived since 1992. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, July 17th at Pine Hill Cemetery, Eastern and E. 39th St., Davenport. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Vogt was born in Wheatland, Iowa, the daughter of Edward J. and Phyllis Sampson. She graduated from high school in Calamus, IA and later attended Scovill Business College in Clinton, IA. She worked at the Rock Island Arsenal during World War II and Nichols Wire before her marriage on August 14, 1946. She also earned her private pilot's license that year. In 1949 she was hired as the secretary/receptionist for the newly formed Scott County Mental Health Clinic. She was a long-time member of St. Johns United Methodist Church and the former Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joseph H. Vogt of Atlanta; her two daughters, Phyllis Best of Alameda, CA and Kathryn Dixson (Rogers) of Atlanta; four grandchildren with whom they enjoyed spending time: Alexander Best of San Francisco, Zachary Best of Los Angeles, Francis Dixson and Joseph Dixson, both of Atlanta; and a sister-in-law, Pamela Sampson of Carlisle, MA. She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Edward Vogt, and her son-in-law, Gregory A. Best.
