Nancy Ross, 74, of Davenport, Iowa, died peacefully Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Friday, July 9, 2010, at Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 pm until 7 pm Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Weerts Funeral Home, and from 10 am until the service at 11 AM on Friday.
Nancy Mary Allen was born February 19, 1936 in Davenport, Iowa to Elsie (Schreck) and Richard Allen. Nancy married Harold J. Ross, June 30, 1958, in Eldridge, Iowa. They divorced in 1980. Nancy was a wonderful homemaker and later worked at Evenson's Card Shop and then worked in the Men's Department at JC Penney at Northpark Mall for over 20 years. She retired in 2002, and her interests included spending time with her grandchildren, enjoying her many friends at Brookside Senior Living, watching movies, and reading novels. She was also a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed fellowship at her church and volunteered at the Tuesday meal site at New Hope.
She will be dearly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Al Folland of Long Grove, son and daughter-in-law David and Lynnette Ross of Kansas City, Missouri. Grandchildren Sidney (Brittney) Folland, Eldridge, and Anthony, Halena, Natalie, and Vanessa, Kansas City, and great granddaughter Raelyn Folland, Eldridge, brothers and sisters Jim (Brenda) Allen, Eldridge, Tom (Carol) Allen, Maquoketa, Pat (Joanne) Allen, Bettendorf, Anne (Bob) Letterman, Fair Grove, Missouri, Mike Allen, Geneseo, Illinois, Dennis (Cindy) Allen, Davenport, Mary Allen (Tom Dickson), Bettendorf and numerous niece and nephews were all loved by Nancy as well.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, and brother John Allen. Memorials may be made to the Davenport Public Library, or New Hope Presbyterian Church, or the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
