Theodore (Ted) Arp, 80, of Long Grove, Iowa, died Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport. Celebration of Life services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, July 6th at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2136 Brady St., Davenport, with Rev. Matt Marohl officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ted was born in 1929 in Blue Grass Township, the son of Theodore and Leilla Arp. He married Velma Keppy in 1949 in Davenport, and celebrated their Golden anniversary October 29, 1999. Ted and Velma were dairy farmers for 22 years in Scott County. He then worked for Eldridge Co-op for 19 years. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher for 50 years. He was a 4-H leader; a coach for his sons' baseball teams; member of the Scott County Farm Bureau; member and officer of Scott County Extension Council; co-chairman of Scott County Dairy Promotion Committee with his wife, and a member of Q-C Plus 60 Club. He dearly loved his family, most especially his grandchildren and their activities. He also enjoyed gardening and cardinals.

Survivors include his wife, Velma; sons, Steven (Cheryl) Arp of Long Grove, IA; Randy (Kathy) Arp of Toledo, IA; and Jeffrey (Dana) Arp of West Branch, IA; daughter, Denise Arp James of Davenport; 9 grandchildren, Amanda Arp and Jason (Katie) Arp of San Antonio, TX, Christopher James (Anna Hayes) of Davenport, Jennifer James of Davenport, Andrew and Christian Arp of Toledo, IA, and Allison, Jordan and Bradley Arp of West Liberty, IA; 2 great-grandsons, Teddy James and Christopher James Jr.; and a sister Shirley (Allan) Arp of Walcott, IA.
