Corey and family,
Our deepest condolences on the passing of your mom. I remember how happy your mom was during Corey and Anu's wedding. Thinking of you and your family during this time.
Love,
Mike and Megan (Austin, TX)
Dear Jim
Vickie and I were so sorry to hear about Darlene's passing. While we never spent enough time with you to become close friends, it was easy to see whenever we were together what great people you both are. Dar seemed so caring and kind with no meaness anywhere. She had a smile that just lit up the room. We'll keep her, you and the boys in our prayers.
With deepest sympathies,
Randy and Vickie Hohenadel
Kobergs,
I'm very sorry for the loss of Darlene.
She was just a great person and always had a glow of positivity - we need more people like her.
You guys are in my thoughts.
Jeff
God Saw You... by Unknown
God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be. So He wrapped his arms around you, and whispered, "Come to me".
May you find comfort in knowing that prayers and thoughts are with you all for the loss of your Mother, Your Wife and Our Friend.
Darlene touched many lives, mine included. I had the pleasure of working with her through the clinic and of learning what a wonderful woman she was. She will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
I loved working with Dar. She taught me so much by example. She displayed professionalism in every situation in appearance and mannerisms. Classy lady. We shared a love for the outdoors and a dislike for cooking. We bonded over being organized and chuckled over the others' disorganization. Dar kept everyone in line and she gave me great advice on raising my kids. I know it hasn't hit me yet that she is gone. It seems more like she is on a longer vacation. It seems so surreal, this can't happen to someone so young and vibrant...someone with such a passion for life. It doesn't seem fair. Every day when I walk through the door at work, I look in her office and for a split second I expect or hope to see her there like usual. We are all so very sad here. Dar was our glue, as I am sure she was at home. We have so many warm thoughts and good memories of her. We are all feeling a huge loss, I can can't imagine the pain you are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Darlene was always such a beautiful, kind person. She always had a smile for people she knew. We rode the bus for many years into Davenport West High School, played girls basketball together, and had many memories of dances and fighting for boys attention!
My Dad is Horace Schroeder and Darlene's Mom invited him to many family events along with Kenny Goering of Walcott. Kindness was strong in the Brus family.
I live in Ankeny now and last saw Darlene at the Blue Grass school reunion a couple of summers ago at Steve Berger's llama farm. Steve had passed on, but his wife insisted we still have the event.
I am so glad now that I went and got to see Darlene and visit with her.
My sympathies to her husband, children, and grandchildren. And to Dorothy and Virgil.
Darlene was a wonderful person and I was so sad to hear the news that she had lost her battle with cancer.
Sincerely,
Jan

We have memories of meeting Darlene at family gathering and so enjoyed her company. I'm sure her smile is lighting up heaven.
As a friend of Dot I would like to extend my condolences to your family. Darlene was a beautiful women, and I am sure the memories you have with her will support you through this time of sorrow and pain.

Jim and family, Darlene was a special person to many of us. We give you our love at this time. Fifty-two years ago Darlene was one of the candlelighters at our wedding. Over the years she and Jim included Don's mom Adeline in many of their family activities. Her love shown through to all. She was a double cousin to us through the Brus-Goering families. We will miss her. Don and Doris Goering - Ames, Iowa
Travis,
Sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
Take Care,
Greg
Please know my prayers are with you and your family. I have worked with Darlene for 25 years at CHSC. She was a wonderful friend and colleague. I am so sorry to hear of her passing but know you were blessed to have such a wonderful wife, mother, and grandma.
I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. I hope that her memory remains in the hearts of you and your family.
I do recall your mom always having a smile and being proud of her sons.
My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
Dear Jim and Family,
I am so sorry to hear of Darlene's loss of the battle against cancer. She truly was a great cousin (even if she did go to the wrong high school). I have many childhood memories of Darlene out at the old farm. I especially remember the unique big dollhouse that she and sister, Dorothy shared. She was a mainstay keeping the Brus and Goering families anchored to the Quad-Cities and I for one appreciated that.
From her just barely younger cousin,
Vernet (Susan)
Jim, I did not know your wife but would like to offer our prayers for you and your family.
My condolences go out to Darlene's family. I sincerely hope fun memories will help you through this difficult time. Darlene was such a well respected co-worker and we will miss her warm smile, classy personality and desire to help others. She will be missed.
Darlene was a warm, caring individual who will be missed. She truly made a difference of the lives of the people she encountered through her work!
Sincerely,
Gail Karp, (parent of Josh, a patient at CHSC)
Jim I am so sorry for your loss. Not knowing Darlene I can tell she was a beautiful person as it showed through you and your easy going personality. Find Peace knowing she is with the Lord and you will be with her again when your journey is finished.
I have never met Darlene or her family but I feel like I know her from hearing about her from Dot and being able to relate to her because my sister had ovarian cancer and died in 2004 after a 3 year battle.
I have tears in my eyes right now and can feel your loss so intensely as it brings back so many memories of my own loss.
I just want you, as a family, to know that except for Dot, I am a complete stranger to you but am mourning your loss with you.
Sincerely, Elaine Murray
My deepest sympathy is with Jim and the family. Darlene is and always will be a beautiful person. I used to see her walk into Mercy Hospital everyday from my office window and think how beautiful she was. I am Lori Bennett's sister and the last time I saw Darlene was at Paul and Katie Bennett's wedding and she was concerned about me and my new kidney since I had a kidney transplant a year ago. I was more concerned about her and her health. I will think of her and remember her often. She is in "the good place" now and can watch over us as we will be joining her again. God Bless you!
Dear Jim and family-- We're so sorry to hear of Darlene's passing. We know you have many happy memories of a wonderful woman, wife and mother. Please accept our sympathies on your loss.
We'll always remember Darlene's beautiful smile and loving nature. She will be missed. love, Bill and Mary
