Daniel L. Janssens, Sr., 56, of Davenport, Iowa, died Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport. Services will be held at 11 AM Friday, March 5th, at Zion Lutheran Church, 1216 W. 8th St., Davenport, where the family will greet friends from 10AM Friday until time of service. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dan was born in 1953 in Davenport to Jules and Virginia Janssens. During Vietnam, he served with the U.S. Marines and was stationed in Hawaii in communications. He married Nancy Kuehl on January 4, 1985 in Davenport. Until his recent retirement, he worked as a truck driver for Cedar Valley Transport. He enjoyed going to the boat, riding his motorcycle, and fishing with his granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; daughters, Brandy Janssens of Davenport and Monica Walker of Clinton, IA; son, Daniel Janssens, Jr. of New York; granddaughter, Selena Janssens; sisters, Donna (Tim) Johnson of LeClaire, IA, and Diane Richardson of Reno, NV. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Maria.
