Interment will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to St Jude Children's Hospital.

Mr. Erickson was born in 1932 to Christian and Ellen Erickson in Racine, Wisconsin. He married Phyllis Mae Pekios on June 10, 1951 in Davenport. They were married 58 years.

He graduated with the class of 1949 from Central High School, where he ranked in the top 50 contenders in the National Rifle Marksmanship competition. He then served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Upon his return he earned his bachelor's degree from St. Ambrose. In his younger years, he served as President of Grant Wood School PTA and sang with the St. James Lutheran Church choir. For 35 years, he worked at the former Eagle Signal Co. as an industrial engineer and later as plant manager until the plant closing, when he turned out the lights for the last time. He then worked for Tri-City Fabricating. During his retirement years, he was the proprietor of Avatar Books in the Village of East Davenport until it closed on Jan. 31st this year. Dick was a big sports enthusiast, especially for the Iowa Hawkeyes, an avid reader, and enjoyed music and cooking. He had a quiet disposition and was always contemplating life. He was a wonderful father and grandfather to his family, and his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren at the cabin in Wisconsin.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; daughter, Tina Harper of Davenport; sons, Clay (Pam) Erickson of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Jim (Kim) Erickson of Solon, Iowa; grandchildren, Brennan Harper, Marie, Emily, Olivia, Sarah, Noah and Lukas Erickson; sister, Patsy (Pete) Peterson of Seattle, Washington; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Todd Erickson (1964), and son-in-law, Don Harper (1987).
