John L. Bankhead, 63, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island. Celebration of Life services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 23rd, at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge, Davenport, where the family will greet friends from noon until time of service. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the family.
Mr. Bankhead was born in 1946 in Macon, Mississippi to John Lee and Anne M. Bankhead. He worked as a truck driver for Watts Trucking, Rock Island, for over 20 years. He was fond of time with his family and friends.
He is survived by daughters, Ivory Kirk of Davenport, and Lavonne and Willistene Bankhead, both of Missouri; son, Ishmeal Bankhead of Minnesota; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and seven brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Theodis Bankhead.
