Charlotte Virginia (Johnson) Goodman died at the age of 89 at Manor Care in
Davenport on Tuesday, February 9, 2010. A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, February 16, 2010,at 1:00 P.M. at Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel in Richfield, Minnesota. Private Interment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

Charlotte was born October 9, 1920, in Superior, Wisconsin, the second child of twelve born to Hannes and Lillian (Maki) Johnson. She graduated from Superior State Teachers College with a two year degree and taught in a country school in Siren, Wisconsin. There she met and later married Arthur J. Goodman on October 7, 1943. Charlotte fulfilled her bachelor's degree in education at Marycrest College in Davenport in 1968. She continued her teaching career as a substitute teacher and private tutor over a number of years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, in 1986 and by grandson, Glenn Allan Hallowell, in 2008.

Charlotte was a poet and a caring friend to neighbors and new acquaintances, providing an open heart and genuine interest in people's lives. She loved to plant, observe and nurture flowers, including lilacs, roses, babies breath, sunflowers, and especially the woodland trillium. The beauty of nature gave her
great joy and soothed her in sorrow. Her family treasures her memory as well as her beautifully crafted poetry.

Charlotte is survived by her children/spouses: Gary Goodman of Davenport, Elizabeth Goodman Hallowell of Saint Paul, Minnesota, John and Cindy Goodman of Scio, Oregon, Mary and Tony Williams of Davenport, Anita and Joe Bergman of Saskatchewan, Canada; by nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Mary Jane (Allen) Johnson, Harriet Rantala, Louise (Clarence) Heikkila and brothers Ronald (Gayle), Larry (Sandy), and Fred (Louise) Johnson and brother-in-law Bob (Jane) Goodman. She was preceded in death by siblings Irene Jarvi, & Floyd, Kenneth, Robert, & Roger Johnson.
