Weerts Living Memorial Program | The Weerts Guarantee | Personalized Service
Unique Ceremonies | Cremation | Pricing | Package Pricing

Mankind has forever had an instinctive need to honor their dead -- to celebrate a life that was lived, to pay respect to their body, and to honor them at death with special ceremony. We understand that our lives have been indelibily changed because of the lives of others.  For this we find it necessary to commemorate their life -- to give thanks, and to say “Goodbye.”  Dr. Alan Wolfelt, founder and director of the Center For Loss in Ft. Collins, Colorado educates us to understand that..."we have to say hello before we can say goodbye."  It is the collective experience of a meaningful funeral that allows us to say 'hello' to our loved one before we can say 'goodbye' in a way that brings honor to their life, and brings special meaning to those of us who survive.

In many ways, we rediscover who we are because others have lived. Meaningful funerals, then, are the doorways to healing for those experiencing loss. Indeed, the value and benefit of a funeral is for the living. At the same time, we also bring honor and respect to one who has died.

It was Gladstone who said: "Show me the manner in which a nation or community cares for its dead, and I will measure with mathematical exactness their tender sympathies, their respect for the laws of the land, and their loyalty to high ideals".

It shall then be the purpose of Weerts Funeral Home to render thoughtful, meaningful, and professional service to the communities of the Quad Cities...with tender sympathies, with respect, and with loyalty to high ideals.

With experience, compassion, and respect...we'll be here when you need us.

Weerts Funeral Home is pleased to make a major contribution every year toward the local Greenway Habitat Project, in memory of the loved ones we have been honored to serve. This project is a focused effort of volunteers dedicated to planting trees (800 in the spring of 1999!) throughout the Scott County area, as well as carefully tending to those planted earlier. Flowering trees and oaks are planted in large numbers, so that we may have an ever more beautiful environment year after year.

Three Types of Cremation Services:

Most experts in the field of psychology agree that some form of ceremony recognizing that a life was lived -- and now has died -- helps to move us in a positive direction following loss. This recognition can help initiate the healing process and assist survivors in moving ahead with their lives.

Most families choose to have some type of ceremony before cremation for this very reason. This ceremony can include a clergy person, but may include friends and family giving simple eulogies and sharing memories. This “Celebration of a Life” concentrates on who the person was in life: their joys and accomplishments, as well as what was important to them. Favorite musical selections are often a part of this event.

Oakdale Memorial Gardens, an independent and historical cemetery in Davenport, provides the most complete offering of final disposition options for ashes in our area, including earth burial, above ground columbarium (both indoor and outdoor), as well as a beautiful scattering garden.  Granite and Bronze cemetery and cremation niche markers are available at competitive rates.

Whatever your question or your need regarding cremation...we'll be here when you need us.

A funeral service is a very unique event, and the price will be determined by the choices you make regarding the services and merchandise you may use. According to Federated Funeral Directors of America the average cost of a funeral in 2001 was $6642. (not including cemetery expenses). As the quality leader in funeral service in the Quad-Cities we pride ourselves in being able to provide a variety of choices in both services and cost. Flexibility is important here. Fully aware of all the options and decisions involved in arranging a funeral service, we set out to simplify as much of this process as possible. By grouping comparable quality items into easy-to-understand “Packages”, most families find that their choices are indeed simpler, more easily made, and provide the best value.

Package pricing does represent considerable savings. The most commonly selected services (whether burial or cremation) are packaged together with the various casket/container/vault/urn selections and we then price them -- to your advantage -- as a package. This, in all cases, represents considerable savings from the standard itemized charges… and simplifies the selection process. That's part of the Weerts difference.

And you can count on us to be here when you need us.
